Extreme Snorkelling
For the adrenaline junkie looking for some ‘extreme snorkelling’, there are some exceptional places with some of the most exciting snorkelling the world has to offer!
· For those looking to snorkel with the dolphins, we would recommend Little Bahama Bank, Bahamas.
These extremely playful animals have developed a unique relationship with snorkelers in the area. Dolphins here are know to play chasing games and interacting with people underwater.
· For those looking for something really special, explore the Caribbean Galapagos at Mona Island, Puerto Rico.
This 13,000-acre preserve has over 100 endangered species and 270 kinds of fish. April to October brings the chance to see leatherback turtles in nesting season! The prime time to go snorkelling here is April-November, this is when the multi-day snorkelling trips are available.
· The best Humpback Whale watching will bring you to Dominican Republic.
Getting to the prime spot requires a long boat ride but once you get there, you will experience arguably the greatest animal encounter in the world. Humpback Whale season lasts from January-April.
· Swimming with the sharks can be dangerous, but also exhilarating. There are many places to swim with the beasts but we would recommend The Bahamas and Isla Contoy, Mexico.
Snorkelling in The Bahamas will give you the opportunity to see some of the most dangerous sharks in the world. Hammerheads, Tiger sharks and bulls are regarded as some of the most dangerous predators in the world but under the right conditions, it can be a safe yet exhilarating experience. In Mexico you will get the chance to see Whale sharks, dolphins and the elusive giant manta rays!
